We tapped Dr. Miguel Cunha, New York-based podiatrist and founder of Gotham Footcare, for tips on choosing the best shoes for restaurant work. He walks us through the most important considerations: comfort, support and traction.

One of the most common server injuries is sore feet. According to Cunha, this is usually caused by wearing unsupportive shoes. Our feet naturally pronate [walk with most weight on the inside edge of the feet] during the gait cycle.

The Croc Bistro Clogs are essentially the same as classic Crocs minus the holes on top, so on top of being lightweight, slip-resistant, easy to clean and supportive, they also keep your feet safe from spills.

Yep, that Emeril. Like any good kitchen footwear, these shoes are resistant to slips, spills, odors and stains, and feature insoles that include their patented B.A.M. Technology. (What else would you expect?)

The right restaurant shoes will help decrease fatigue, injuries and ailments that might otherwise leave you or your staff out of commission. To keep things running smoothly, make sure everyone from the host to the kitchen staff are wearing proper footwear, along with practicing other safety precautions.

We were tired of seeing sub-par outsoles that called themselves "slip resistant." So, we rolled up our sleeves and created our own, an outsole that we'd want to wear in a slippery restaurant kitchen or manufacturing facility. We call it MaxTRAX, and it kills it in independent testing.

What are slip resistant shoes? A slip-resistant shoe is a type of safety footwear. As you can gather from the name, non-slip shoes are designed to prevent wearers from slipping and falling on wet, oily, or otherwise slick surfaces. The main thing that sets them apart from standard casual shoes is a synthetic rubber sole, which provides better grip and traction, making them the perfect healthcare shoes for nurses and doctors.

Many different types of slip resistant shoes (including those from the Vionic Pro collection) will specify that the outsole passes ASTM International F1677 standards. This means the rubber shoe was tested for performance on a variety of wet, oily, and dry surfaces.

Lastly, although you want durability, the sole should be lightweight, flexible, and relatively soft. A light, flexible outsole will absorb shock and help you avoid fatigue. On top of that, a softer rubber sole tends to provide the best grip on a slippery surface.

Aside from an anti-slip sole, what are the components of an ideal work shoe for those who work long shifts on their feet? There are several aspects of non-slip shoes that can set a pair apart from the competition.

Protective footwear is vital for preventing debilitating injuries, like sprains, strains, torn muscles, dislocations, and fractures. A proper non-slip work shoe can help you maintain balance and traction on a slippery floor.

Those who work in the construction, moving, or logistics industries might need a special type of slip-resistant boot or safety footwear. Cleats, weight-resistant toe boxes, and heavy-duty industrial soles can keep workers safe while they do heavy lifting or move around on icy surfaces. Some boots are also designed to reduce the chance of an electrical hazard on wet surfaces.

The best part about our shoes? You can wear them all day without foot pain thanks to our Vio-Motion Support technology. Offering three-zone comfort in every shoe, we guarantee comfortable arch support, cushioning, and stability in every step.

Vionic understands how much time medical professionals and food service workers spend walking and standing on slick floors. Although slippery surfaces may be unavoidable in your line of work, we believe your footwear should allow you to focus on the task at hand, not your feet.

I am looking for a good non slip shoe working in a busy kitchen. I ware a orthotic insole in my regular shoes. Something with a a cushion sole and firm around the heel with good support. Black or Navy in colour. I take a normal 6 but with the orthotic insole maybe a 6.5 or 7. Many thanks Mary

Slips, trips, and falls (STFs) are the third most common type of non-fatal work-related injuries in the United States. Injuries from STFs often lead to time off the job for workers. Employers: learn how slip-resistant shoes can help prevent worker slip injuries.

About 17,000 food services workers from 226 school districts, servicing students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Workers were clustered by school district and were randomly assigned to a group that either received free, 5-star rated slip-resistant shoes or to a group that generally bought their own slip-resistant shoes of any kind or rating.

The study showed that highly-rated slip-resistant shoes are effective in preventing food services worker injuries. Workers who received free, highly-rated slip-resistant shoes had a 67% reduction in claims for slip injuries. There was no reduction in slip injuries for workers who bought their own slip-resistant shoes.

The Office of the President, Office of Risk Services (OPRS) provides oversight and funding for the University of California (UC) Slip-Resistant Footwear (SRF) Program. The goal of the UC SRF Program is to reduce the frequency and severity of slip-and-fall incidents throughout the UC system by providing high-quality, slip-resistant footwear to employees whose job duties routinely expose them to significant slip-and-fall hazards (e.g., dining/nutrition services, custodial/environmental services, patient care, and animal care employees).

Non-slip shoes are shoes specifically designed not to slip in wet and slippery conditions. These are shoes with specialized rubber outsoles that provide a better grip when walking on slippery surfaces.

Non-slip shoes are very versatile and can be used in various situations. These shoes give peace of mind while significantly reducing the risks of slips, trips, and falls and keeping you safe and protected from different injuries.

But do you know what are non-slip shoes, how to tell whether they are slip-resistant or just regular shoes, and how these shoes work? If not, keep reading to learn more and make an informed buying decision.

Slip-resistant or non-slip shoes are designed to reduce slips, trips, and accidental falls. Their outsoles have grippy treads, keeping you stable on your feet while walking on wet and slippery terrains.

Materials used in shoe manufacture come into play when they come in contact with the ground. Non-slip work shoes are usually softer on the outside, while their outsoles are typically made of rubber. That makes them slip-resistant, allowing for an efficient grip on slippery, wet, and greasy surfaces.

The right pattern in the outsole creates traction and provides a grip for the wearer to prevent slipping under various circumstances. Most non-slip shoes have interlocked tread patterns ingrained under the outsole.

So, if you have to walk or stand on your feet for long hours or work on wet, slippery, or greasy floors, you can benefit from wearing slip-resistant shoes. On top of that, these can keep your feet, heels, ankles, and calves comfortable and stable, reducing or preventing fatigue and strain and allowing an all-day comfort.

When shopping for anti-slip shoes, look for durable EVA rubber outsoles with a rounded design on the sides. EVA materials are synthetic and look like resin or foam. You can often find it in the midsoles and outsoles of non-slip shoes.

Athletic shoes with higher levels of friction have deeper tread grooves. Deep grooves can prevent slips and falls because they grip the ground. The more grooves the shoes have on the outsoles, the more slip resistance they offer.

A mixture of rubber glue and salt can make your shoes slip-resistant. This mixture is made to give the outsoles an extra grip. To make the mixture, mix equal parts of rubber glue and salt. Then, spread the mixture evenly on your outsoles and let them dry.

Ice grip is an adhesive substance you can apply to the outsoles of your shoes. An example of this substance is the materials used in the wheels of rollerblades. Ice grips are successful in making shoes slip-resistant because they offer a strong, non-stick surface for better traction.

You can also try rubbing the outsoles of your shoes with sandpaper the same way you would when smoothing a surface for varnish or paint. That works because it creates more friction area in the soles and offers a better grab.

Like many products designed to help you in various conditions, non-slip shoes can be used by anyone. They are affordable and easy to find. So, if you want an all-around shoe to keep you protected in various situations, slip-resistant shoes are worth considering.

Another reason to get non-slip shoes is if you already have problems with maintaining balance. Poor agility and weakness in the legs can lead to falls when walking on slippery terrain, whether on an icy sidewalk, in nature, or at a construction site.

Sometimes doctors can fix broken bones without surgery. However, sometimes surgery is necessary to put screws in the bone to hold it together while it recovers. Again, wearing slip-resistant shoes can help prevent such unpleasant experiences. 041b061a72
